There’s something special and unique about Huatulco compared to other parts of Mexico, and that’s the diversity of the beaches. With over 30 beaches spread across 9 bays, every beach in Huatulco has it’s own personality. From calm, family friendly bays, to more rugged untouched spots, exploring the beaches is part of what makes Huatulco so special.
Even after multiple trips to Huatulco, we still haven’t made it to every beach. But over the years, we’ve found ourselves coming back to the same few again and again. They’re the beaches we take our friends and family to when they visit.
The “best” beach really depends on what you’re looking for. Some people want the best snorkeling, others want calm water and some just want a quiet place to relax by the ocean. But if you’re wondering just where to start exploring Huatulco, these are the five beaches we’d recommend visiting first.

Playa Santa Cruz

Playa Santa Cruz is one of the most convenient beaches in Huatulco, located right by the marina and within easy walking distance of town. It’s a great all-around option with calm water, plenty of restaurants, and lots of activity, making it especially ideal for families or a low-effort beach day.
Playa La Entrega

Playa La Entrega is one of the best beaches in Huatulco for snorkeling, with clear water and easy access to marine life right from shore. It has a more lively, energetic feel, with lots of activity and a busy atmosphere—perfect if you’re looking for a fun, full beach experience.
Playa Maguey

Playa Maguey offers a great balance between relaxed and active, with a slightly quieter atmosphere than some of the more central beaches. It’s a great choice if you want a laid-back beach day with enough amenities, but without the same level of crowds.
