Parque Acuatico Arroyo, Huatulco

Parque Acuático Arroyo is a fun, lesser-known activity just outside of Huatulco and a great option if you’re looking to take a break from the beach—especially if you’re travelling with kids.

Located near the airport, about 20 minutes from town, it offers a more local and relaxed experience compared to larger resort-style activities.

Quick Info

Location: Near Huatulco airport
Drive time: ~20 minutes
Cost: ~100–150 pesos per person
Hours: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Best for: Families, younger kids, casual day activity

What to Expect

Parque Acuático Arroyo offers a mix of pools and slides for both kids and adults in a relaxed, local setting.

Near the main restaurant, there is a large pool with a deeper section, a diving board, and a small bridge connecting different areas. Beside it is a separate kids’ pool with water features, including fountains, three small side-by-side slides, and a medium-sized slide that curves into the water.

There are also two larger water slides that go into the main pool, similar to what you’d find at a traditional water park.

Our daughter was able to use the smaller slides independently at a young age, but it’s important to know that there are no lifeguards at the top of the slides. You’ll need to supervise children and make sure they are waiting their turn and going down safely.

There is a lifeguard monitoring the main pool area, mainly to ensure that no one is in the landing zone at the bottom of the slides.

A little further from the restaurant, there is a separate kids’ water play area with a shallow pool, a large dumping bucket, smaller slides, and water features. There is also a small playground and trampoline nearby, although these are more exposed to the sun and can get quite hot during the day.

Timing & Flexibility

  • In low season: Friday, Saturday, Sunday

You can arrive anytime during operating hours, but:

  • Smaller slides are usually open earlier

Is This Suitable for Kids?

This is one of the most kid-friendly activities in the area.

There are multiple shallow pools, smaller slides, and a dedicated kids’ water play area, making it ideal for younger children.

However, because there is limited supervision, parents will need to keep a close eye on children, especially around the slides.

Experience Details

  • Dedicated kids’ water play area with shallow pool, small slides, and water features
  • Large main pool with deeper section and diving board
  • Two larger slides for older kids and adults

These additional play areas are located slightly away from the main pool and can get very hot during the day.

Important Notes

  • Limited lifeguard supervision

  • Transportation back needs to be planned in advance

Tips

  • Bring a life jacket for younger kids if possible
